Job Title: PR Account Director

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced PR Account Director to lead client accounts, develop strategic communications campaigns, and drive brand visibility across Atlantic Canada and beyond. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in media relations, corporate storytelling, and digital PR, with expertise in sectors such as marine, tech, government, healthcare, or tourism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute integrated PR and communications strategies for clients across Halifax and Atlantic Canada.
  • Serve as the senior client lead, building trusted relationships and ensuring high satisfaction.
  • Lead media relations, securing coverage in local (e.g., Chronicle Herald, SaltWire), national (e.g., CBC, Globe and Mail), and industry-specific outlets.
  • Oversee content development (press releases, op-eds, social media, crisis statements).
  • Manage and mentor a team of PR professionals, fostering growth and collaboration.
  • Monitor industry trends, policy changes, and competitor activity to advise clients proactively.
  • Collaborate with digital marketing, creative, and social media teams for cohesive campaigns.
  • Measure and report on PR performance (media hits, engagement, ROI) using tools like Cision, Meltwater, or Hootsuite.
  • Contribute to business development, including proposals, pitches, and networking in the Halifax/Atlantic Canada region.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years in PR/communications, with 3+ years in a leadership role (Account Director or Senior Account Manager).
  • Proven success managing high-profile accounts and securing media coverage.
  • Strong Halifax/Atlantic Canada media and stakeholder networks (government, corporate, or nonprofit sectors a plus).
  • Exceptional writing, presentation, and client management skills.
  • Experience in marine, tech, public sector, healthcare, or tourism PR is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in PR, Communications, Journalism, or related field.

Desirable Skills:

  • Crisis and issues management expertise.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with government relations (municipal/provincial/federal).
  • Knowledge of Indigenous or multicultural communications is beneficial.
