Position: Lawyer (Solicitor/Litigator)

Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified and motivated Lawyer to join our established legal practice in Toronto. The ideal candidate will provide expert legal advice, represent clients in various matters, and ensure compliance with Canadian and Ontario laws. This role requires strong advocacy skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a diverse caseload.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and representation in areas such as civil litigation, real estate, family law, corporate/commercial law, employment law, wills & estates, or criminal defence (depending on practice area).
• Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, and settlement agreements.
• Represent clients in Ontario courts (Superior Court, Small Claims Court), tribunals, and mediation/arbitration hearings.
• Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in federal/provincial legislation and case law.
• Manage client files, ensuring deadlines and procedural requirements are met.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and judiciary.
• Appear before regulatory bodies (if applicable).
• Supervise junior lawyers, articling students, or paralegals (if required).

Qualifications & Experience

• Licensed to practice law in Ontario (member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario).
• 1-5+ years of post-call experience (depending on seniority).
• Strong knowledge of Canadian/Ontario law and court procedures.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage multiple files under tight deadlines.
• Strong client service and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in litigation, corporate law, or real estate transactions.
• Familiarity with e-filing systems and legal software (e.g., Clio, LexisNexis).
• Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset but not required.
